Boatmans Optical is an independently family run Opticians with two practices based in Chelmsford and Ongar.

At Boatmans Optical we take pride in the care that we provide. Our highly trained Optometrists, offer the highest standard of healthcare, we work with the latest equipment including Optomap retinal scans and OCT. This enables us at Boatmans to offer state of the art eye care, as well as checking the need for glasses you will receive a comprehensive eye health check. We will screen for a variety of eye conditions, and tailor the eye examination to suit your particular needs. The eye is a window to your health and regular eye checks are important for your eye health.

We offer enhanced services at Boatmans Optical. We are able to see emergency and urgent cases via the local MECS (minor eye condition scheme), as well as Children who fail school screenings and patients after their Cataract operations.

We display a wide range of designer and non-designer frames to suit all adults and children and are confident that we have a price range for all individuals. We supply all major contact lens brands and invite all new patients to join our contact lens schemes, whether they are monthly direct debits or pay as you wear schemes.

Our staff are all extensively trained to advise you on the best choice of lenses - single vision, bifocal or varifocal, and can advise you on the latest lens coatings, which can have a huge effect on the final appearance of your spectacles. We offer a full paediatric service, and a large choice of children’s frames and styles.
